child & adolescent therapy
I provide specialised psychological assessment and treatment to children and adolescents for a range of issues including:
Difficulties with mood/emotions (eg. depression, bipolar disorder, anger)
Behavioural issues (eg. aggression, ADHD)
Peer, family, and other relationship difficulties
Anxiety and worry (eg. generalised anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety)
School-related difficulties (eg. school refusal, procrastination, exam anxiety)
Trauma and attachment difficulties
Therapy may directly involve the young person, their parents/carers, or both, depending on the individual needs of the client.
I offer psychometric and educational assessments for young people (aged six and over) for whom there are concerns about cognitive or learning abilities:
A cognitive assessment identifies a young person's overall cognitive functioning, with specific information about areas such as attention, memory, verbal reasoning, problem-solving, and processing speed. A cognitive assessment uses the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Child, Fifth Edition (WISC-V).
A psycho-educational assessment measures academic skills in areas such as reading, writing, mathematics, and comprehension (and identify gaps between cognitive ability and academic achievement), and can be used to identify specific learning disorders. The assessment involves both the WISC-V and the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test - Third Edition (WIAT-III).
